AMARA AND THE PRICE OF INTEGRITY

Case Study Summary

This is part of a case series. Amarachukwu Gozieanyi, the regional head of the internal control unit of Henkan Bureau de Change (HBC), is conflicted about whether to follow the organization's policy regarding integrity issues or to give in to the wishes of a senior colleague who would like her to do the opposite. She needs to make a decision regarding a contract staff who has been found engaging in suspicious activity. The company policy states that such a staff should be returned to his company. Mr Suleiman, the branch manager of one of the company's subsidiaries, wishes Amara to simply transfer the accused, a relative of his, to another company branch as opposed to sending him back to his company in line with company policy.
